This exquisite hand spun, hand crocheted Pygora shawl was a creation by
Sally McCarrick of Windy Hill Farm. Sally won the Black Sheep
Cup with this beautiful Pygora shawl in 1998 at the Black Sheep
Gathering in Eugene, Oregon. It is a very prestigious honor to
win this award and it's especially exciting to win it with Pygora
fiber at a predominately wool sheep show!
The
shawl is made from natural colored Type-A Pygora fiber. It was
spun to about a gossamer weight (finer than lace weight). It
took 1,500 yards of 2 ply yarn and it weighs only 7 3/4 ounces! Sally was
also awarded a plaque for this shawl from the Aurora Hand Spinners
Guild and won the Supreme Champion Diamond Award at the 1999 Oregon
Flock and Fiber Festival in Canby, OR. She also took "Best
of Show" at the NWRSA conference in 1999. Thank
you Sally, for letting me be the proud owner of this very special
heirloom Pygora shawl for all these years! It is cherished
by all.
